10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo Is for Everyone

It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced athlete, out of shape beginner, shy teen, or busy mom—we want you in our gym! 

We are looking for anyone who wants to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, experience a mental and physical transformation, and be a part of our supportive and positive culture. 

Our Adults classes are for both men and women, ages 16 and up.
BJJ is a world-renowned full-contact, self-defense martial art based on grappling, submission holds, and ground-fighting. The premise of BJJ is that, through training, a smaller opponent can always defeat a larger adversary by isolating their limbs or neck.

But don’t let that scare you!

Our instructors are highly trained, deeply experienced, and just plain fun to be around. You are always under capable and safe direction at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo.

Beginner Classes

In the Adults Beginner class, we’ll go through the basics of Jiu Jitsu and get you used to the movements. You’ll learn to optimize your mindset, incorporate best practices, and master foundational moves. We’ll start by conditioning your body and gradually progress in difficulty as you master each move. All beginners start out as white belts.
