Two years ago Adam experienced major health problems which included knee reconstruction surgery, and a herniated lower back disc. He was unsure if he would ever be able to walk more than 2 blocks at a time, let alone compete. Adam was able to overcome his health issues, get healthy, open up a successful school, and make it back to the big stage of Jiu Jitsu. Head instructor Adam “Big Red” Sachnoff received an invite from the Sheik, Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (United Arab Emirates royalty), to compete in the olympics of Jiu Jitsu, also known as ADCC. The invite included an all expenses paid trip to São Paulo, Brazil, the opportunity to compete against the best in the world, and a chance to win up to $40,000. Adam got the opportunity to face multiple time black belt world champion Rodolfo Vieira in the first round of the -99kg division. While Big Red put up a good fight he was eventually submitted. Rodolfo Vieira went on to take first place in the -99kg division. While Adam was not able to take home the first place title, he was able to compete on the biggest stage in the world against the best in the world. There is no losing in Jiu Jitsu, only winning and learning.
